Benguerra Lodge opening December 2007

Situated in the tranquil bay of Benguerra Island, where white beaches are washed by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, you will find Benguerra Lodge.

In the past 18 years, Benguerra Lodge has established itself as the leader in the provision of a private, exclusive African experience in Moçambique, a position confirmed in the 2007 World Travel Awards where Benguerra Lodge was hailed Mozambique’s Leading Safari. The Lodge has therefore evolved along with its market and now finds itself in the unique position to successfully cater for the discerning eco conscious travellers, who seek peace and tranquillity in an unspoiled environment.

The Lodge has however suffered a significant setback as a result of Tropical Cyclone Favio. This unexpected misfortune caused us to cease operations and forced the business into a state of uncertainty. The ensuing months proved particularly stressful and a number of recovery plans were considered. These were mostly dependant on external factors which have now been successfully resolved. The new reconstruction program is therefore now well underway and we are confident that the new Benguerra Lodge will be able to serve its market even better.

In short, Benguerra Lodge has taken the best from the past and used it as the basis on which to remodel the future. The character of the lodge remains small and intimate, with a warm East African / Arabic feel which is evident in the food and décor. The upgraded lodge will be launched in December, with beautiful new luxurious suites. It will have 4 different types of rooms, each with its own character. The rooms have been given names with a Portuguese flavour, which pays tribute to the cultural heritage of Moçambique.
