Health:

There is Malaria in Moçambique – so it is recommended that precautions be taken.

No other vaccinations or inoculations are required.

Passport & Visa Requirements:

Visas are required for all passport holders, except South Africans. These are available on arrival in Vilanculos. Cost is US$25 per person.

Insurance:

All guests should carry comprehensive travel insurance, which includes Trip Cancellation cover. We need to charge cancellation fees as per our stated policy.

Currency:

ZAR and US$ are accepted in Moçambique
For US$ - no $1 bills or old bills (with small heads)

At the Lodge we accept all major currencies and Visa & Mastercard. No Amex, Diners Club or Traveller’s Cheques.

Taxes:

These are payable in Vilanculos in US$ or ZAR:
$3.00 Border Tax – on Arrival
$8.00 Domestic Air Tax – on Arrival
$20.00 International Departure Tax – on Departure

Gratuities/ Tipping

Tipping is by no means compulsory, but if guests do want to tip for good service received at the Lodge the staff are always appreciative. As a guideline we recommend 10% of your extras bills.

Water: Bottled water is available, although the tap water is safe.

Baggage Limits:

Please note there is a 20kg per person limit for baggage on Pelican Air.

  • - Basic accommodation, open, airy chalets with roll down blinds – no windows or doors.

  • - En-suite bathrooms with showers.

Cabana’s (2)

  • - 2 x Double Cabana’s.
  • - Luxury room with beautiful sea views, private wooden deck and plunge pool
  • - Overhead fan and mosquito net.
  • - En-suite bathroom with bath and shower (toilet separate).
  • - Outdoor shower with beautiful mosaic inlays.
  • - Mini bar and Tea & Coffee facilities.
  • - 5 meters from beach

Casita’s (10)

  • - 6 Doubles, 4 Twins (Twin beds may be converted into doubles).
  • - Spacious, luxurious and very private, with beautiful sea views (80m² under thatch).
  • - Comfortable lounge area, tastefully appointed to relax in.
  • - 100 m² of private timber deck, with plunge pool and outdoor dining Gazebo for starlit dinners.
  • - Plantation shutter windows and doors.

Bazaruto Archipelago Trust:

The Bazaruto Archipelago is a National Park. A donation of US$10 per person is requested: US$6 goes into trust for the Benguerra Community and US$4 goes to the National Park.

Dietary Requirements:

Please inform Reservations of any dietary requirements and/or allergies. The cuisine is comprised mostly of fresh seafood.

Weather:

Weather is increasingly difficult to predict below is a guideline of what can be expected:

  • January: Hot. 28-35°C. Rainy season
  • February: Hot. 28-38°C. Rainy season, mostly storms in afternoon.
  • March: Cooling down. 25-30°C. Little rain.
  • April: Weather settled. 25-30°C. Little rain.
  • May: Lovely month, weather settled. 20-28°C. No rain.
  • June: Fine weather. 18-27°C. No rain.
  • July/August: Winter months, but warm. 15-25°C. No rain.
  • September: Warming up again. Nice month. 18-28°C. Rain unlikely.
  • October: Getting hot again. 23-30°C. Rains unlikely.
  • November: Hot. 22-33°C. Rains could start.
  • December: Hot. 23-36°C. Could rain.
Transfers:

Air Transfers The island is a mere 8 minute flight from Vilanculos (weather dependent). The Lodge is 20 minutes drive from the airstrip.

Boat Transfers Boat transfers take approximately 35 minutes. Please note – you will be required to wade through some water.
